Watchers points are a proprietary system of points
used in order to simplify the slimming progress.
Instead of the slimmer having
to keep track of fat, and kilocalories that they consume,
they calculate the point value of everything that they consume.
They do this by looking it
up in a book, or by entering the fat and calorie values into
a special calculator. This may involve weighing the item,
and adjusting for its weight, if the fat and calorie values
are only known per standard unit of weight.
The slimmer is only allowed
to consume a certain number of points per day depending on
their gender and existing weight.
He or she records all the points
consumed during the day. If they consume less than their limit,
then they can carry a limited number over. If they consume
more, then there is no extra penalty (apart from the guilt
and weight gain).
It is quite a good system,
as it uses the KISS method (keeps it simple stupid), and focuses
the slimmer on the most important factors affecting their
weight loss.
You can even get bonus points
for exercising.
The other advantage is that
the slimmer has total flexibility as to what they eat.
They can choose to consume
their x number of points as pizza and chips, or raw carrots.
